PM returns tomorrow
Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina returns home tomorrow (Saturday), wrapping up her three-week visit to the US and the UK. "The PM will reach the capital at 9.20 am on Saturday after attending the 72nd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York," an Awami League (AL) press release said on Thursday. AL will accord a mass reception to the PM and the party president. — BSS

Forex reserve again crosses $33b-mark
The country's foreign exchange (forex) reserve crossed the US$33 billion-mark again on Thursday after receiving funds from development partners. The reserve rose to $33.11 billion on the day from $32.90 billion of the previous working day, according to the Bangladesh Bank (BB) statistics. "Our forex reserve has crossed the $33 billion-mark after receiving $126 million from the World Bank and the JICA against different projects," an executive director of BB said. The country will be able to settle eight months' import bills with the existing reserve, he added. — FE Report

Miscreants loot Tk 1.7m from mill official
Rajshahi: A gang of miscreants, identifying themselves as members of Detective Branch (DB) of police, snatched Tk 1.7 million from an official of Rahman Jute Mills in Mahendra area of Rajshahi city on Thursday noon. The official drew the money from a bank to pay salary of the staff and officials of the mills. — Our Correspondent
