N\\\'ganj 7-murder: 3 Rab officials lose job

Three officials of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), who are accused of taking money to carry out the multiple murders in Narayanganj, have been discharged. The Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) confirmed to bdnews24.com that Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad, Major Arif Hossain and naval officer Lt Commander MM Rana have been sent to retirement. "The concern department of the army has confirmed the early retirements of Tarek and Arif, but we are yet to receive a circular on that," the ISPR's Assistant Director (Army) Rezaul Karim said. Meanwhile, Naval officer MM Rana was forced to go on retirement, confirmed ISPR Assistant Director (Navy) Taposhi Rabeya Lopa, but said they were yet to get any official intimation about it. Seven, including Naraynganj City Corporation (NCC)'s panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar, were abducted from the city on April 27. Three days later, their bodies were found floating in Shitalakkha and Dhaleshwari rivers. The commanding officer of Rab 11 in Narayanganj Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad was withdrawn and sent back to army after the incident. A relative of the slain NCC councillor alleged that Rab had taken Tk 60 million from the prime accused in the murder case to carry out the abductions and killings. The Rab has already formed a probe panel to look into the allegation.
