Sunday, 18 May 2014

A Narayanganj court has served a show-cause notice on the investigating officer (IO) of the 7-murder case. IO Mamunur Rashid Mondol was pulled up for not showing as arrested two former Rab officers – Bangladesh Army’s dismissed Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad, who was the Commanding Officer of Rab-11, and dismissed army Major Arif Hossain, who was the next man of the Narayanganj-based Rab 11.  They were picked up on Saturday from Dhaka Cantonment area for suspected involvement with 7-murder. IO Mamunur Rashid Mondol will have to reply to the notice on the day when the two Rab-11 officers would be produced in the court after their 5-day remand expires. Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mohiuddin issued the order on Sunday on a petition by the son-in-law of slain lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar. Narayanganj district Lawyers’ Association Advocate Sakhawat Hossain said the former Rab officers were not shown arrested in the multiple murder case for which they expressed resentment. “We have filed a petition on behalf of son-in-law of slain lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar to show them arrested in the murder case.” The court issued the show-cause notice to the IO after hearing the petition, Hossain said, according to bdnews24.com.
