The Investigation Officer (IO) in the case over the abduction and murder of seven men in Narayangnj has been changed. The move comes after relatives of slain Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC)’s panel mayor Nazrul Islam alleged the IO was in good terms with prime suspect Nur Hossain, a city councillor. Narayanganj’s SP Khandker Mohid Uddin said the newly-appointed district detective police OC Mamunur Rashid will now investigate the case. NCC councilor Nazrul Islam, the district and sessions judge’s court lawyer Advocate Chandan Kumar Sarker along with five other people went missing on April 27. Their bodies were recovered from the Shitalakkha and Dhaleshwari rivers several days later. Nazrul’s wife Selina Islam Beauty filed a case of abduction against Siddhirganj unit Awami League Vice-President Nur Hossain and General Secretary Haji Md Yasin. Police on May 3 raided Hossain’s house and detained 12 men from there, according to bdnews24.com.
