The High Court has ordered a change in the probe committee formed to investigate the Narayanganj 7-murder. Additional Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration Md Abdul Hakim has been appointed the committee’s new chief. Narayanganj City Corporation’s Ward 2 councillor Nazrul Islam, the district bar association’s member Chandan Kumar Sarker and five other people were abducted on April 27. Their bodies were found floating in Shitalakkha and Dhaleswari rivers several days later. The decision came following the committee’s previous head Shahjahan Ali Molla’s shift in office. Nazrul’s family alleged that ward 4 councillor Nur Hossain paid members of Rab-11 Tk 60 million for carrying out the abductions and murders. A case was filed with Nur Hossain as the prime suspect. The High Court ordered, on May 7, the formation of a probe committee. It has been tasked to find out if the law enforcers were involved in the murders in any way or whether they were negligent in rescuing the abductees, according to bdnews24.com.
