Wednesday, 7 May 2014
Forensic doctors believe the killers behind the Narayanganj seven murders were professionals. They said the victims were killed immediately after their abduction. The bodies of Narayanganj Councillor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Advocate Chandan Kumar Sarker and five others were found in the Shitalakkha and Dhaleshwari rivers, three days after they were abducted at Bhuigarh on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Siddhirganj. Their post mortem examinations were held between the night of April 30 and the morning of May 1 at Narayanganj Sadar Hospital, also known as Victoria Hospital. The hospital’s Resident Physician Asaduzzaman Miah, who headed the forensic team, said the men had been killed anytime between 48 and 72 hours before the post mortems began. He said the victims had been strangled to death, but had been knocked unconscious beforehand by a blow to the head. Each of the victims was killed in the same manner, he said. “We believe only professional, skilled and trained people could have carried out such an act.” The bodies that police found on April 30 had decayed to a state beyond recognition. Relatives identified the victims by their clothes and other articles of wear, according to bdnews24.com.
