N\\\'ganj very sensitive: CEC

The Election Commission considers Narayanganj situation 'sensitive' and has ordered local administration to be on high alert to maintain the law and order in the city during the parliamentary by-polls. Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad informed reporters of the EC instruction after a meeting, held in the EC conference room in the city. It reviewed the law and order situation in Narayanganj view of the N'ganj-5 by-poll to be held on June 26. The constituency has fallen vacant following the death of Jatiya Party MP Nasim Osman. The meeting reviewed the reports of the home ministry and intelligence agencies on the N'ganj law and order. The returning officer, officials from ministries and different agencies, election commissioners and EC secretary were present. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the CEC said they were not apprehending any violence over the elections. The meeting, however, ordered the officials to remain on high alert to face 'any situation'. Ahmad said: 'Narayanganj is a very sensitive place,' according to bdnews24.com.
