NILPHAMARI, Dec 12: Any uncertainty is created about the completion of 22 km Nilphamari-Domar segment road expansion and its improvement works.
Co-financed by ADB and GOB the project named 'Road Network Improvement & Maintenance project' (RNIMP) II envisages to connect Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Panchagarh districts to facilitate connectivity in the region.
The big road improvement and maintenance project of the Ministry of Communication having 83.70 km in length commenced on 25th June 2008 and sscheduled to be completed on 24th June 2012. But the project undertaken on an expenditure of Tk. 1979.02 million has become uncertain in its 22 km Nilphamari-Domar segment due to delayed acquisition of land, insufficient time for the completion of the work, increased expenditure and so on.
Sources said time extension for an sanother year up to June 2013 has been sought and if ADB does not extend the time limit the works would be abandoned. In case the work is abandoned the entire project would remain half done creating cause of frustration for the zonal people.
