Nilphamari raw hide traders seek bank loan

NILPHAMARI, Sept 19: Around 3000 hide and skin collectors would engage themselves in collecting hide and skin of sacrificial animals from door to door across six upazilas of Nilphamari district during the Eid-ul-Azha. This is a routine phenomenon of every year.
However the genuine raw hide and skin traders of the district urged the government to curtail the absolute domination by the non bona fide hide and skin traders to introduce licence or identity cards for the traders to get rid of undue problems arising out of this for years.
They also called for bank loan facilities from the government for small raw hide and skin traders in the district.
They said they are unable to preserve their collected hide and skin due to high price of salt which is essential for preservation.
Sources said, in the ensuing Eid-ul-Azha the agents of Indian business syndicate allegedly would try to cash in on the opportunity while purchasing the raw hides.
It is feared that the agents would smuggle raw hides to India after buying at a cheap price. Concerned sources requested the administration to take steps to check the bid.
