Nine ferries yet to be pressed into post-SIDR service

Nine out of the 18 ferries washed up on the shores in Barisal and Khulna divisions by Thursday night's severe cyclone could not yet be salvaged as the storms left a trail of destruction in the communication sector too. Of the ferries, 17 including their pontoons were affected in Barisal division and one in Khulna division. Communications Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Tuesday said they have sought help from the Navy to salvage the ferries and then put them back into operation. — UNB
