Nine killed in road accidents

MEHERPUR, Dec 21 (BSS): Five persons were killed and nine others injured when a truck loaded with onion fell into the road side river Kazla Tuesday night. Fire Service men, Police and RAB with the help of local people recovered the bodies of the victims and rescued the injured persons. Later, injured persons were admitted to Gangni Thana Health Complex and Meherpur General Hospital. Killed persons were identified as Shariful 25, Nagraj 22, Shaban 23, Tofazzal 26 and Haran 30. All of them are onion traders of Ragunathpur village under Meherpur Sadar UpazilaUNB reports from Panchagarh Three people, including a bank manager, were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in the district on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as local Agrani Bank manager Safiur Rahman, 50. He was the resident of the Mithapukur area. In another incident a retired policeman was killed and another two were injured in a head-on-collision between two motorcycles at Jagadal Thutapakhuri on Panchagarh-Tentulia highway at about 12:45pm. The deceased was identified as Lutfar Rahman, 50, of Gitalgaj village in Tentulia upazila. A woman was killed and his husband injured in a road accident on Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid road at Chhatrajitpur in Shibganj upazila on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Rani Begum, 42, wife of Abdur Razzak of the upazila.
