Nine killed in separate road accidents

TANGAIL Nov 29: Four people were killed and five others were critically injured in a road accident at Dhola Tengur area under Kalihati Upazila on Dhaka-Jamuna highway Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Barek (53), son of Intiaj Ali of Solla village under Kalihati upazila, Omed Ali (55), son of late Marfot Ali of the same village, Anser Ali (60), son of late Joynal Abedin and Abdul Khalek (40), son of Ali Ahmed of Bolisaya village under of Kalihati upazila. Six injured were admitted to Tangail General Hospital.
Officer-in-charge of Jamuna east police station Tapos Chandra Pandit said accident took place when a North Bengal bound truck leaving from Tangail collided head on with a Tangail bound tempo. Three people died on the spot and another died on the way to Tangail General Hospital. Five injured were admitted in the hospital. All of them were tempo passengers and they are day labourers. They were going to Tangail town for their daily work.
Khulna
One person was killed and three others were injured in a road accident at Hogladanga area of Batiaghata thana on Khulna-Satkhira highway Monday.
The victim identified as van driver Narayan Mondol (48) son of late Vaggodhar Mondol of village Failmari under Dumuria Upazila. Injured Saon (20), Raju (18) and Zakir Hossain (25) were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Police and eyewitness said that the accident occurred when a Khulna bound passenger carrying bus left from Paickgacha collided head on with a three wheeler van coming from opposite direction. The bus driver lost his control and fell down in the roadside ditch. The van driver, bus helper and another two passengers were critically injured.
Pabna
A police constable was killed in a road accident at Pakshey nearby Lalon Shah bridge on the Pabna-Kushthia highway in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna at about 4.30am on Tuesday. Police caught the bus driver and its helper.
The deceased Rashidul Islam, 40, was the constable of Pakshey highway police of the district. Officer in charge of Ishwardi highway police Golam Kibria said that Roshidul was on duty in Lalon Shah bridge toll plaza area of Pakshey highway.
When the victim tried to halt a Dhaka-bound coach from Kushthia Shyamoly Paribahan (Dhaka Metro-14-5843) then the bus hit him and left the place immediately. Roshid died on the spot the OC said.
Joypurhat
Joypurhat UNB report from Joypurhat adds: A man was killed and two others were injured as a trolley overturned at Keshabpur-Nishir crossing in sadar upazila in Joypurhat Monday.
The deceased was identified as Jamaluddin,31, driver of the trolley and hailed from Panchbibi upazila.
Naogaon
UNB reports from Naogaon: Two students, who were riding a motorcycle, were killed as their motorbike was hit by a bus at Shibrampur in Mahadevpur upazila in Naogaon on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Shamim Hossain, 24, student of Rajshahi Govt College and Nazmul Hasan, 16, class X student of Mahadevpur Sarbamangola High School. They hailed from different areas in the upazila.
