Nine killed in Sylhet road accident

SYLHET, Dec 26 (UNB): At least nine people including two school teachers were killed and 50 others injured in a fatal road accident at Sarighat in Jaintapur upazila Monday afternoon.
Police and witnesses said a Sylhet bound bus collided with a Jaflong bound truck at about 1:45 pm in front of Sarighat petrol pump on Sylhet-Tamabil highway, leaving four people dead on the spot.
Five other people died at Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Six of the deceased were identified as Tiptri Rani Dey (30), a teacher of Kurihai Government Primary School of Goainghat uapzila, Babita Rani (24), teacher of Birikhai Govt Primary School of Jaintapur uapzila, Salma Begum (45) and her son Noman (12), of Darbost village of Jiantapur upazila. bus driver Anwar Hossain, hailed from the same upazila and Khatun Begum (45).
