Nine sued for killing housewife after rape in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR, July 10 (UNB): A case has been filed against nine people in connection with the killing of a housewife after gang-rape in Chandraganj upazila of the district.
Tahura Begum, mother of the victim, filed on Thursday the case with Chandraganj thana, three days after the incident.
Gias Uddin, a neighbour of the victim, was among the accused.
Quoting local people, police said eight to nine miscreants, including Gias Uddin and Nasir, picked up the wife of Abdul Mannan and mother of five children, from her house at Gandhyabpur village in Chandraganj upazila forcefully in absence of her husband, who stays in Dhaka for job in a private organisation, on Tuesday night.
Later they violated the homemaker and dumped the body in a pond near the house after strangulating her to death.
Local people pulled up the floating body of the victim from the pond on Wednesday afternoon.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Autopsy report showed evidence of gang-rape and a hit on the victim's head caused her death.
