Nitol-Niloy, Tata Motors jointly set up driving training institute in country

FE Report Nitol-Niloy group and Tata Motors (India) have jointly established an international standard driving training institute in Bangladesh with a view to helping reduce road accidents and widen the scope of manpower export of the country. The information was disclosed at a press conference at the National Press Club in the city Tuesday. According to the information of the conference, the institute has been established on 15 acres of land at Pakundia under Kishoreganj district. Chairman of Nitol-Niloy Group Abdul Matlub Ahmed presided over the conference where Country Manager of Tata Motors (India) M Ram Chandan and others were present. "Seventy per cent road accidents of our country happen due to the lack of training of the drivers," Matlub Ahmed said. Mr Ahmed also said, "Most of the drivers of our country do not have minimum formal training on driving which often causes unexpected accidents. They do not even have primary knowledge about road signs, safe driving etc." Fifty thousand people would be provided training from the institute in three different categories such as learner's course, refresher course and upgraded course at a minimum cost of Tk 3,500 to 7,500 per head. "The initiative would help reduce a significant number of road accidents across the country and would also enable the country to earn a good amount of foreign exchange through export of expert drivers abroad," the Nitol group chairman said. He urged the people to co-operate with this noble initiative for the greater interest of the nation. In the conference, it was also disclosed that Tata group of India would provide assistance on 'Dual control training vehicle technology, simulator technology, driving training manual and aggregate cut section' to the trainees. The minister for Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) of Bangladesh and the managing director of Tata Motors, India are likely to jointly inaugurate the training institute today (Wednesday).
