Detained Jama'at-e-Islami chief and major suspect of "crimes against humanity" in 1971 Motiur Rahman Nizami Thursday admitted his role in constituting the razakars and other auxiliary forces that carried out atrocities siding with the Pakistani troops in 1971, reports BSS.
"I was compelled to do it to save my life as the Pakistani army would have killed me otherwise," an official familiar with the investigation process told the news agency quoting Nizami as saying during a daylong interrogation at a "safe home".
