Nizami, Babar head for Kashimpur Jail

Motiur Rahman Nizami and Lutfozzaman Babar are being taken to Gazipur's Kashimpur Jail from Chittagong. The former ministers were sentenced to death on Thursday along with 12 others for their role in smuggling ten trucks of weapons through Chittagong in 2004. Two former heads of the NSI, Rezzakul Haider Chowdhury and Abdur Rahim, also given death sentence in the same cases, were being sent to Kashimpur jails with Nizami and Babar, said the Chittagong Central officials. Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge and Special Tribunal-1 judge SM Mojibur Rahman on Thursday ordered death for 14 including former industries minister Nizami and former junior Home Minister Babar in one of the cases filed over the 10 trucks arms haul, according to bdnews24.com.
