No alternative to acquiring quality edn to face global challenge: Hasan Mahmud

CHITTAGONG, Apr 4: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Hasan Mahmud Saturday said that there was no alternative to acquiring time- befitting quality education to keep the nation's head high in world forums and be able to face the challenges of globalisation, reports BSS.
The State Minister said extra-curricular activities like sports is an integral part of education, which is imperative to develop mental faculty of the students side by side with proper education.
The minister said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is pledge-bound to take all necessary steps for ensuring overall improvement of the education sector as it an important factor to build Digital Bangladesh as per the Vision-2021.
Hasan Mahmud was speaking as the chief guest at a reception accorded to him and the prize-giving ceremony of annual sports of Shukbilash High School under Rangunia Upazila in the district held on the premises of the school Saturday morning.
With president of School Managing Committee Shawkat Ali Talukder in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by local Awami League leaders and dignitaries including Golam Kabir Talukder, Kabir Ahmed Talukder, Mohammed Ali Talukder, UP Chairman Jafar Ahmed, Upazila Awami League President Khalilur Rahman Chowdhury, General Secretary Kazi Mohammed Jasim and headmaster of the school Puran Ranjan Bhattachariya.
Speaking at the function, he assured the people of the locality of taking necessary uplift schemes for the development of the area particularly in improving road communication infrastructures.Dr Hasan called upon the teachers to concentrate on imparting lessons in the classroom and put emphasis on increasing student enrollment side by side checking drop-out rate. Later, he laid foundation of new academic building of Khurishia Dareecop High School in the afternoon.
