No alternative to polls in democratic country

Deputy Speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah said on Saturday that there is no alternative to polls in a democratic country and BNP has decided to join the upcoming upazila election after realising it, reports BSS.
"Khaleda Zia has made a grave mistake by not participating in the 5 January election and now she is paying for her mistake," he said.
Fazle Rabbi said this while addressing a discussion organized by Bangabandhu Academy in the auditorium of Institution of Diploma Engineers.
Presided over by academy's advisor Haji Md Selim, MP, the meeting was addressed by Jasad leader Mir Hossain Akter and Samyabadi Dal leader Harun Chowdhury, among others.
"People will never vote for those, who kill people by setting passenger bus on fire, create anarchy in the name of movement," the Deputy Speaker added.
UNB adds: Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Mia Saturday urged BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to regret her political mistakes.
"You (Khaleda) have ruined the country…you've done a blunder by boycotting the parliamentary polls and now paying the price for the mistake. Now you should regret," he said.
Fazle Rabbi said, "We all love those who are close to us, sometimes we may dodge them, but not our conscience."
Pointing finger at Khaleda Zia, he said, "Ask your conscience what prompted you to carry out anarchy in the last few months?"
