No cattle market alongside roads, highways: Minister
Tuesday, 12 August 2014
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said on Monday no cattle market alongside roads and highways will be allowed ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, reports UNB.
He said this while inspecting the four-lane upgradation works on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Siddhirganj in Narayanganj.
Turning to Eid-ul-Fitr journeys, the minister said people had been able to travel this time with a lot of ease and this had been possible due to coordinated efforts of all concerned.
Quader said this coordinated effort will continue to ensure that the travel of the homebound people gets easier ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Besides implementing traffic rules on the roads, the minister said, there is a need for making the passengers and the drivers of vehicles more aware about the rules so that the traffic situation remains under control.
Quader said the traffic situation eased a lot during the recent Eid-ul-Fitr due to the team work of the police, administration, transport owners and workers.
He also said that the construction of Kachpur, Meghna and Meghna-Gomti 2nd Bridges will begin in January next.
