Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Sunday the government will not change its decision on reducing 10 marks from Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) method at both SSC and HSC examinations, report agencies.
Mr Nahid has stuck to his guns on increasing the number of creative questions in SSC and HSC tests despite protests by students.
"This will not change. There is no reason or logic for it. The students are not getting less time," he told the media after a meeting with academics in the conference room of the Education Ministry on Sunday.
Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Md Aktaruzzaman, Prof Zafar Iqbal of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Executive Director of Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) Rasheda K Choudhury, a professor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Muhammad Kaykobad, attended the meeting.
On September 18, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee said in a circular that students, taking the SCC and HSC exams next year, have to answer seven creative questions instead of six.
Meanwhile, The Education Ministry has published a list of 12,619 successful candidates for recruiting as assistant teachers to non-government educational institutions, including schools and colleges, for the first time across the country.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid disclosed this at the Secretariat on Sunday.
The candidates will get the results through SMS on their mobile phones and they have been asked to join the work within a month.
The minister said the government has taken the initiative to appoint teachers through a central examination of Non-government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) for maintaining transparency in the recruitment process.
