No child marriage, 100pc birth registration for Eluari union

RANGPUR, May 12 (BSS): Speakers at a huge students-mothers' rally today vowed for freeing Eluari union under Fulabri upazila in Dinajpur from the curse of child marriage side by side ensuring hundred percent birth registrations.
Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) organised the rally to create awareness on child health related issues as part of the 'Global Week of Action-2015' at local Khwajapur High School in the upazila.
The main objectives of the rally were to create awareness for ensuring 100 percent birth registration, eradicating child marriage and on the reasons behind various preventable diseases and malnutrition to prevent child deaths and healthier growth of the children.
With Team Leader of the Sponsorship Project of WVB David Baskey in the chair, former Chairman of Eluari union Amaresh Roy attended the rally as the chief guest.
Inspector of Fulbari Thana Akhter Hossain, Headmaster of Khwajapur High School Girjanath Roy, General Secretary of Northern Bangladesh Child Forum Armina Akhter, Programme Manager of Fulabri ADP of WVB Lal Thuai Bom and its Child Security Officer Shantanan Chandra Singh addressed the rally as the special guests.
More than 600 male and female students, guardians, parents, marriage registrars, Imams, Purohits, members of different Child Forums, civil society members, socio-cultural activists, professionals, community leaders and local elite were present.
The speaker said there is a close relation between child marriage and birth registration and stressed for ensuring 100 per cent birth registration and registering every marriage after examining birth registration certificate to free Eluari union from child marriage.
