No country recognised AL govt, claims Khaleda

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has said that no country in the world has recognised the current Awami League-led regime. Terming the government ‘illegal’, Khaleda, also the leader of the 20-party alliance, said the regime was formed through the January-5 election that the BNP-led coalition and other parties boycotted. She also warned that they will launch a strong movement for restoring democracy and the rule of law in the country through ousting the regime. The BNP chief was addressing a rally at Nilphamari town on Thursday evening to drum up public support in favour of the coalition's demand for a fresh national election under a non-party and neutral administration. ‘Don’t think you (AL) have got recognition by only staging photo sessions. No country will recognise you as there’s no democracy in the country,’ Khaleda told the huge gathering at Boro ground. ‘Foreigners knew that this regime was not formed with people’s votes. So, they won’t recognise it,’ she said, adding ‘This time, we’ll return home after ousting the AL government and restoring democracy and the rule of law in the country. Our victory is certain as people are with us,’ according to a news agency.
