No factions in BNP: Mirza Abbas
Wednesday, 23 July 2014
The BNP's Dhaka city unit convener Mirza Abbas has claimed there’s no factionalism in the party. ‘There are no groups led by me or Sadeque Hossain Khoka. These are only rumours. There’s only one group led by Khaleda Zia,’ Abbas said on Wednesday after the city unit’s new convening committee’s first meeting. On Friday, the BNP announced the 52-member committee as well as a 4-member advisory body for its Dhaka metropolitan unit. Khoka used to be at the helm of the Metropolitan BNP, until he resigned in March this year. However, none of the advisors attended Wednesday’s meeting, including Khoka. ‘It seems from the government’s recent statements that formation of a new committee gives them a headache,’ he said while speaking to reporters after the meeting, according to bdnews24.com.
