No miracle to prevent dengue, says DSCC mayor

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said on Wednesday the city corporation authorities have no miracle in their hand to prevent dengue.
He said doing only a specific work does not give guarantee to eliminate Aedes mosquito; and till today none has proved solution to this problem, he stated.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after inspecting designated place for a rickshaw stand at Dhandmondi 2/A in the capital. The DSCC mayor said they were following the accepted method of destroying breeding grounds of Aedes mosquito.
He underscored the need for creating public awareness for destroying breeding grounds of mosquito.
He said it is not possible for the DSCC alone to destroy the hotspots of Aedes mosquitoes if the city dwellers are not responsible and bring the places of Aedes mosquito to the notice of the corporation authorities.
He said they destroy the Aedes mosquito breeding grounds as per report given by the Directorate of Health and those who provide information on it to the corporation's control room.
