No more test for MBBS admission

The government has decided that the admission of students to medical colleges and institutions for MBBS course will be done on the basis of their SSC and HSC results, relieving them of admission test, reports UNB.
The decision was taken at a meeting on formulating rules for the upcoming MBBS admission held Sunday at the conference room of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Prof Dr AFM Ruhal Haque presided over the meeting. "The process of admission to both government and private medical colleges will be controlled centrally," said a Health Ministry release.
Local students who will have minimum GPA-8 jointly in SSC and HSC examinations will be considered eligible for the admission, while the minimum grade of GPA-7 for foreign students.
The necessary rules for the medical admission will be made public through advertisements, the release added.
Senior secretary to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare M Humayun Kabir, director general of health services Prof Dr Khondaker M Syfayetullah, BMA secretary general prof Dr M Sharfuddin Ahmed and principals of various medical colleges were present at the meeting.
