No new holding tax in proposed budget: RCC Mayor

RAJSHAHI, April 3 (BSS): Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton revealed that no new holding tax would be imposed in the proposed forthcoming 2009-10 annual budget of the corporation.
He, however, said the tax would be reassessed on extended buildings at the previous rate.
AHM Khairuzzaman Liton stated this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion jointly organised by RCC and Conscious Citizens Committee (CCC) on the premises of Miapara Public Library in Rajshahi Friday.
The RCC has taken an initiative for holding open view-exchange discussions with the citizens over formulating of the forthcoming 2009-10 annual budget of the corporation.
Chaired by CCC Convener Adv Golam Arif Tipu, the meeting was addressed, among others, by panel mayor Shariful Islam Babu, ward councilors Abdul Hamid Sarker Tekon and Abdus Sobhan, Daily Sonali Sangbad Editor Liakat Ali and Dr Syed Shafiqul Alam.
AHM Khairuzzaman Liton said other different steps were taken to enhance revenue earning to expand the civic facilities and the need-based activities would be started soon.
