No power can foil war crime trial: Tajul

No power can thwart the trial of war criminals, as it was one of the electoral pledges of the present government, State Minister for Liberation War Affairs ABM Tajul Islam said Wednesday.
Tajul was addressing a discussion on 'trial of war criminals: materialisation of the spirit of liberation war' on the Dhaka University (DU) campus at noon. Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) organised the function.
"Though it is a big challenge to try the war criminals, it must be done. The government is trying it's best to ensure a fair trial," the state minister said.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, former VC AK Azad Chowdhury, journalist Shahriar Kabir, advocate Abul Fazal and BCL President Mahmud Hasan Ripon, among others, spoke on the occasion.
