Deputy Leader of the House in Parliament and Awami League (AL) acting president Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury Tuesday said the war criminals do not have any right to live in Bangladesh, reports BSS.
She made the comment at a rally at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in the city before bringing out a procession marking the 30th Homecoming Day of Prime Minister (PM) and AL President Sheikh Hasina.
AL presidium member Suranjit Sengupta, Agriculture Minister Motia Chowdhury, Home Minister Sahara Khatun, acting AL General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organising Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, City AL acting president MA Aziz and General Secretary Mofazzal Hossian Chowdhury Maya also addressed the rally, among others.
Sajeda said the people who opposed the independence of Bangladesh and the liberation war lost their right of stay in this country.
Motia Chowdhury said the country got independence under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman; and his daughter Sheikh Hasina established the rights of people through her movement against autocracy and injustice and endeavour for development.
Sahara Khatun said people of this country brought back Sheikh Hasina, who eventually established their rights to vote and food.
Referring to the demand for mid-term election by the main opposition BNP, Hanif said they thought people would support their demand. "But they were wrong as people did not respond to them."
