No rush of buyers at fair price shops

Our CorrespondentbrCHITTAGONG, Sept 03 There is hardly any rush of buyers to the fair price shops installed at the different parts of the city for the convenience of the fasting people during the holy month of Ramadan.brAs there is no significant difference in prices of the goods sold in the retail market and at the fair price shops buyers community are not interested enough to rush to the fair price shops.brHowever, a committee has been formed to devise ways to attract buyers to the Fair price shops and fixing a uniform rate in all the shops. The district administration, visiting the different markets and fair price shops, found that Chhola, an essential iftar item is being sold at Tk.50 to 52 per Kg in the retail market while it is sold at Tk.50 in the fair price shop. Price of Soyabean oil at the fair price shop is Tk.98 per litre which is sold in the market at tk.100.brIn respect of other items of essential goods, similar condition persists in the price level in fair price shop and retail market.brThat is why the fair price shops cannot attract the buyers during the holy Ramadan.
