No scope for terrorism in Islam: speakers

Speakers at a seminar said Sunday there is no scope for terrorism in Islam as it is a religion of peace, harmony, tolerance and humanity, reports BSS.
The speakers passed the opinion while addressing a seminar on "Terrorism and Islamic Concept of Jihad" organised by Dr Serajul Huq Islami Research Centre at the Arts building on Dhaka University (DU) campus Sunday.
DU Pro-vice-chancellor Prof AFM Yusuf Haider presided over the seminar while DU Prof ANM Rois Uddin presented the keynote paper.
Prof Rois Uddin, in his keynote paper, said the Great Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), the symbol of peace, welfare and kindness, during his life had cherished and preached the teachings of Islam to be practised at all social and state systems.
Referring to the initiatives of the prophet, including establishment of social justice, women's rights, social equality, human rights irrespective of race, caste and creed, and balanced distribution of wealth, Prof Rois said: "Islam teaches us sacrifice, instead of earthly pleasure."
Prof Yusuf Haider said the ideology of Rasul Karim (SM) always inspires the human being to follow the path of truth and justice for all times and for welfare.
He urged the Muslims to acquire knowledge as the Great Prophet gave optimum importance to it.
He said Islam is modern, life-oriented, fit for all ages and a centre for solving all problems, as it is the holy bondage of harmony of eternal and earthly lives.
Prof Syed Anwar Hossain, Prof Muhammad Abdul Malek, Prof Muhammad Abdul Baki and Prof M Elias also spoke at the seminar.
