No Shakib, Mustafiz for first-three T20Is against Zimbabwe

Tuesday, 30 April 2024

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) did not include all-rounder Shakib al Hasan and pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman in their 15-member squad for the first three games of the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, scheduled in Chattogram from May 03 (Friday), reports Cricbuzz.
BCB, earlier, said that Shakib will be unavailable for couple of games as the all-rounder, who just recovered from eye problem, wanted to play Dhaka Premier League to prepare for international cricket. BCB also did not keep Mustafizur, who will return from IPL following his last game against Punjab Kings on May 1, in their squad for the first three games.
BCB selection panel member Hannan Sarkar said that Shakib wants to play DPL and as a result they included Afif Hossain.
"Shakib is expected to come on April 30 and he desired to play two DPL games and we felt it can be good as in T20 format you don't get time to get ready in the middle and he can have that time," said Hannan on Sunday.
