IN today's competitive world, there is a very common tendency among students to try to earn good grades. It might seem that their only target is mastering the techniques of obtaining good grades. In doing so, they often forget the need for having good concepts on the subjects. What happens is that they obtain good grades but move onto the next class without having very good concepts of the subjects.
Students need to realise that the whole task of studying will be much more interesting to them if they have the mind to have clear understanding of their lessons. Memorisation or partial understanding may help them cross the hurdle of the exam but being short of knowledge will put them in trouble in the next classes or in their professional life when they will need comprehensive knowledge to apply in all kinds of real life situations.
Guardians can be fully content when they will see that their sons and daughters have got good grades and have good concepts as well. They need to keep an eye on their sons and daughters from the very beginning of the academic year in this regard.
It has been observed that for the competitive exams like university admission, admission into MBA programmes, BCS examination, a strong base is a must. Without strong basic knowledge of the core subjects, for example Bangla, English and Mathematics, one cannot expect to earn a very good grade in these. Whoever will have good concepts about the subjects/courses, can expect to do good in the competitive exams as well as viva tests in job interviews.
Having good concepts of the subjects/courses may help one tremendously in professional life. You will be amazed to see how a very simple knowledge that you have learned in your academic courses can be of help in critical situations.
When you will have good concepts and you will help other classmates in understanding the lessons, you will be popular in the class. The more you will help others in understanding the lessons, the clearer concepts you will have on the courses.
When you will have clear concepts about the subjects, you will be able to contribute to the class discussion. Teachers will start liking it. They will know you as a good student.
