Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu said there is no public support for the oppositions' issueless movement in the country.
The AL's senior leader said this as the chief guest at a discussion on 'Jail Killing Day' organised by the Parishad for Bangabandhu and Four National Leaders at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) auditorium in the city Thursday, reports BSS.
Chaired by the Parishad's Vice-president Sirajul Islam, the discussion was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of Dhaka Mohanagar AL Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram, Vice-president Fayez Uddin Miah and publicity and publication secretary Abdul Huq Sabuj.
"The movement of Khaleda Zia would not be successful as people of the country did not accept her speech that Golam Azam, Nazimi, Mujahid and SQ Chowdhury are not war criminals," Amu said.
"When Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working
relentlessly for development of the country as well as welfare of the people, the opposition parties led by BNP launched movement to save the war criminals and two corrupt sons of Khaleda Zia," he said.
Maya said the dream of Khaleda Zia would never be fulfilled until the time a freedom fighter remains alive on the soil of Bangladesh.
No conspiracy could foil the trial of the war criminals, he asserted.
