No tailback on Dhaka-Tangail Highway ahead of Eid: Quader

SAVAR, May 26 (UNB): Road Transport and Bridges Minister also general secretary of ruling Awami League, Obaidul Quader assured on Saturday that no tailback will be created on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr this year.
Talking to the reporters after examining the overall condition of Nabinagar-Chandra highway at Ashulia in the noon the minister came up with the remark.
Quader said "There will be no traffic congestions on the Dhaka-Tangail highway as the conditions of roads are much better ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr this year."
"The construction work of an Elevated Expressway from Abdullahpur to Ashulia Bypile DEPZ will start from October which is a Tk 8.50 billion (850 crore) project", he said.
"Legal steps will be taken if anyone found involved with extortion on the highways and high security measures will be taken on different highways including the Dhaka-Aricha highway centring the Eid-ul-Fitr, he added.
