Noakhali land office fire destroys important documents

A devastating fire at the land office in Noakhali Sadar upazila has destroyed important documents. The fire, which broke out in the land office building on Saturday, has also gutted files, books and furniture. Fire service officials said the fire might have been originated from an electric short circuit at the building that houses the land office at around 10:00am. Being informed, several firefighting units rushed to the spot Maijdee Fire Station and other stations of the fire service and doused the fire with the help of the local people after hectic efforts. Muhammad Rafique Ullah, an official of the Fire Service and Civil Defence’s Noakhali office, said the fire completely gutted papers and documents, computer, photocopy machine and other materials and equipment at the land office. Deputy Commissioner of Noakhali district Munir Ferdous visited the spot along with other officials in the evening, according to a news agency.
