Nobel for Malala and Kailash

Sunday, 12 October 2014

Teenage Malala Yousafzai has been awarded the Nobel peace prize along with Indian children's rights activist Kailash Satyarthi. Malala has become the youngest Nobel prize winner. She is only 17.
Both Malala and Kailash were credited with their relentless work to ensure the rights of children and young people. When India and Pakistan are hostile to each other along their borders, joint awarding of the Nobel peace prize to the two from rival countries is significant.
The peace-loving people of the world hope that both the Nobel laureates will join their hands and strongly advocate against the war and help bring peace in this region.  Malala advocates for women's education and for that she had faced wrath of the Pakistani Taliban.  Kailash Satyarthi started his campaign against child labour since 1980 and headed various peaceful protests and demonstrations to end exploitation of children.
In our country, thousands of children are working in tough conditions without receiving much attention from the society. They have no childhood bliss. When they are supposed to go to schools, play and learn, they are working hard to earn their livelihood.
I salute the two wonderful human beings, Malala and Kailash, and hope that their winning Nobel peace prize will make their work easier and they will reach more children who need help and love and a little bit of understanding.
