Friday, 24 April 2009

Nokia, a multinational cell phone manufacturer, Thursday signed a contract with Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) to sponsor the National Football team and development of youth football (under-18) for one year.
Nokia will provide Tk 10 million (Tk 1.0 crore) to BFF under the contract, which came into effect Thursday, reports UNB.
After signing the contract at a simple function at the BFF conference room in the afternoon, BFF president Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin thanked Nokia for sponsoring the national football team.
He said: "We also welcome Nokia for accepting a part in grooming the talented youth footballers… the contract adds a new dimension to football in the country."
Replying to a question, the BFF president said it has not yet been finalised how the entire sponsorship money would be spent. But the money, he assured, would be spent as per requirements of the national and youth football teams.
Nokia Bangladesh general manager Prem Chand said football is a popular game worldwide and Bangladesh is no exception. The relation between Nokia and BFF, which began two years ago, has bolstered.
