Nomination, scrutiny deadline for Noakhali-1 extended

The Election Commission (EC) has extended the deadline for submission of nomination papers for Noakhali-1 constituency to Dec 22 and scrutiny to Dec 23, an official said. The last date for withdrawal of nomination - Dec 27, and the voting day - Jan 12, would remain unchanged. The decision came after Gonotontri Party acting president Md Afzal appealed to the EC Saturday to extend the deadline of submission of nomination papers by another week. The EC announced a fresh schedule on Dec 14 for election to the constituency following the death of Gonotontri Party president Nurul Islam.
