Non-compliance with regulations has virtually led the global economy to the verge of recession, the central bank governor said Thursday without elaborating.
"Real-time information is imperative for proper implementation of regulations," Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said while inaugurating the launching of 'Dhaka-biz..com, a web page which will focus on financial information.
Among others, Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed, president of Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers' Association and managing director of Agrani Bank Ltd, K Mahmood Sattar, chairman of Association of Bankers' Bangladesh, Zoglul Ahmed Chowdhury, managing director and chief editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shawkat Mahmud, president of the National Press Club, Neaz Rahim, president of Bangladesh Store Owners' Association, Tanveerul Haque Probal, president of Real Estate Housing Association of Bangladesh, AQ Siddiqui, chairman of Bangladesh Commerce Bank, T Md R Amin, managing director of Saif Powertech, Md Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, deputy managing director of Ashiyan Lands Development Ltd, among others, spoke on the occasion with Syed Ashraf Ali, chairman of Dhakabiz.com and also a former executive director of Bangladesh Bank, in the chair.
Speaking on the occasion, Faruk Ahmed, founder of Dhakabiz.com and also president of Bangladesh Journalists' Forum for Consumers and Investors (BJFCI), said Dhakabiz will provide updated profiles of all leading banks, financial institutions, insurance and leasing companies and corporate bodies.
By a single click on the web page of Dhakabiz, he said: " You will find call money trading platform, foreign exchange trading platform, personal finance trading platform and real-estate trading platforms on the web page."
The BB chief said, besides maintaining quality, there should be adequate security measures for the web page which will deal with financial market.
