CHITTAGONG, Dec 25: Availing the chance of the crisis of non-judicial stamp, a section of vendors are realising excess price of the stamps ranging from six to ten times more than the actual rate.
Non-judicial stamps of Tk 150 denomination have been sold at the rates ranging from Tk 900 to Tk 1500 each in Chittagong court building area for last few days.
It has been affecting the task of agreement to be executed for different purposes. Meanwhile, a good number of the people intending to apply for residential plots in the port city and the capital city of Dhaka, failed to procure the desired stamps.
Due to lack of security paper, the task of printing the non-judicial stamp is being hampered in the Bangladesh Government Press, concerned sources informed.
Although Chittagong district administration has procured 40 thousand pieces of non-judicial stamps from Bangladesh Government (BG) Press and selling the same through the licensed vendors, it cannot meet even one tenth of actual requirements.
As the supply position of stamp is quite inadequate than the actual demands, the buyers are compelled to wait in the queue for the hours together.
However, Chittagong district administration sources said, a big consignment of security paper has already reached the country and the task of printing the stamp has started at the BG Press. So, the very crisis is likely to be resolved shortly.
