None can snatch democratic rights of people: Hasina
Friday, 6 November 2009
Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday urged the people to remain alert so that none could snatch their democratic rights as she aired apprehensions about motives of the parliament-boycotting opposition, reports UNB.
"Is the opposition party out to impede the hard-earned democracy?" she threw the hard-hitting question, without naming BNP.
In her winding-up statement in Parliament before the prorogation of its third session-which ran all through without the main opposition in the House--the Prime Minister said the opposition party is not supporting the democratic practices and processes of the country.
"When the appeal hearing on Bangabandhu murder case is at the final stage, when reinvestigation is launched into the August 21 grenade attack, when process is underway for trying the war criminals, investigation is going on into the Peelkhana BDR tragedy, what signal the opposition party is giving?"
