None to be spared for extortion, says Quader

SAVAR, Sept 25 (BSS): Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader Wednesday said action would be taken against the people who will be found involved in corruption, terrorism, extortion and tender manipulation.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said this while talking to journalists after opening the newly constructed underpass at Savar Cantonment Shooting Club Point on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Saver.
"People who have already been arrested are wicked people…..Actions will be taken against the people involved in drug abuse, terrorism, extortion and tender manipulation whatever are their identities. Nobody will be spared," said the minister.
The government is operating drives against corruption, drugs abuse and gambling, he said, adding it is not eyewash.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Enamur Rahman, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 9th Infantry Division of Army Major General M Akbor Hossain and senior civil and defence officials, among others, were present on the occasion.
The 200-metre long underpass was constructed by the 24th Engineer Construction Brigade at a cost of Tk 263.7m (26.37 crore) under the supervision of the Roads and Highways Department (RDH).
