Nonstop transport strike in K\\\'chhari from Dec 14

Khagrachhari ‘Transport Owners-Workers Samannay Parishad’will enforce an indefinite transport strike in the district from December 14 protesting a rise in terrorist activities and extortion in transport sector. They announced the programme at a press briefing held at the office of the Parishad in the district town. M Yusuf, member secretary of the Parishad, alleged that at least 4-5 groups exploiting the names of different parties are illegally collecting tolls from transport workers on different roads in hill district. The terrorists beat up transport workers if they do not give them tolls as per their demands, M Yusuf said. The transport association took the decision to enforce the strike as the administration did not take any effective steps in this regard, M Yusuf added, according to a news agency.
