Norway wants to sign an agreement with Bangladesh to send back illegal Bangladeshi nationals who seek political asylum in that country, Law Minister Anisul Haq said on Tuesday. The subject was raised by Norwegian Ambassador in Dhaka Merete Lundemo during her meeting with the law minister at his office. Anisul quoted the envoy as saying that many Bangladeshis seek political asylum in Norway after illegally entering the country. Norway faces complexities in sending these illegal migrants back to Bangladesh, the minister said. During the meeting the envoy expressed Noway’s interest in increasing investment in information technology, oil and gas sectors in Bangladesh. She suggested the government to modify some rules and regulations of the Board of Investment (BoI) to attract more foreign investment, according to a news agency.
