Norway keen to invest in various sectors

Norway is very keen to invest in various sectors of Bangladesh including power and energy, shipbuilding, communication, ICT and agriculture, reports UNB.
The interest of the Norwegian government was conveyed when outgoing Ambassador of Norway Ingebjorg Stofring paid a farewell call on President Zullur Rahman at Bangabhaban Thursday.
During the meeting, the ambassador said her country is very willing to further contribute to the social sector of Bangladesh through expanding trade and commerce in the coming days.
"Congenial atmosphere for investment is prevailing in Bangladesh," she said.
Ambassador Stofring highly appreciated the development approaches taken by the government recently, the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in achieving the MDG in health and also securing the highest position in the UN peacekeeping mission.
"Norway wants to gradually increase trade relation with Bangladesh," she said.
The outgoing ambassador recalled that Norway had recognised Bangladesh on the first day of Bangla New Year, Pahela Baishakh (April 14 in 1972) just after the country's great liberation war.
President Zillur Rahman through the outgoing ambassador urged Norway to further extend its cooperation in all sectors of Bangladesh.
Secretary to the President's office M Safiul Alam, Military Secretary to the President Maj Gen Abul Kalam M Humayun Kabir and Press Secretary AKM Nesar Uddin Bhuiyan were present on the occasion.
