Norwegian envoy accords reception to Selima Ahmad

Norwegian Ambassador in Dhaka Merete Lundemo accorded a reception to Selima Ahmad on her winning the 2014 Oslo Business for Peace Award at the ambassador's residence in the city on Wednesday.
In this connection, a press conference was held where Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) President Selima Ahmad, Merete Lundemo and immediate past president of BWCCI Sangita Ahmed were present.
In her speech, Merete Lundemo said Selima Ahmad is among the recipients of the Business for Peace Foundation Award in 2014 which is regarded as the Nobel prize for business. She said Ms Selima has set business-worthy examples through her mission.
Thanking the ambassador for the warm reception, Ms Ahmad said private sector in Bangladesh has been very vibrant and playing an important role in developing country's economy. But time has come that private sector should play a strong role in establishing peace in society and add value to the community.
The reception was attended by ambassadors and diplomats of different countries, Bangladesh Mohila Parishad president Ayesha Khanam, Action Aid Bangladesh country director Farah Kabir, renowned business woman and former adviser to the caretaker government Geeti Ara Safia Choudhury,renowned economist Dr Debapriya Bhattachariya, Sonali Bank Limited chairman Habibur Rahman, former adviser to the caretaker government Rehman Sobhan, former Bangladesh Bank governor Salehuddin Ahmed, Nitol-Niloy Group chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmad, Asia Foundation country manager Hasan Mazumder and media representatives.
