'Notorious criminal' David Emon arrested

Police have arrested Chattogram's notorious criminal, Mobarak Hossain Emon, widely known as David Emon, along with four of his associates during a coordinated operation in the Jhikargachha border area of Jashore district.
According to police, Emon is a prominent figure in Chattogram's criminal underworld and faces allegations of extortion, firearms-related offences and other organised criminal activities. Law-enforcement agencies had been attempting to apprehend him for some time.
Investigators monitored Emon's movements for seven days before launching the operation in the early hours Wednesday.
Chattogram Superintendent of Police Md Masud Alam said Emon was arrested following prolonged surveillance and a coordinated operation involving multiple teams from the district police.
The police chief said he personally participated in the raid, during which Emon and four of his associates were arrested on Wednesday morning.
Masud Alam also said police simultaneously carried out a separate operation to apprehend Raihan, described as one of Emon's key associates. However, Raihan managed to flee after reportedly detecting the presence of law-enforcement personnel.
Police said efforts are continuing to arrest Raihan and bring him to justice.
