Notre Dame University, BD, begins its journey

Country's first Catholic university Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) has begun its journey by kick-starting academic activities on the campus in the city. Approved by the government on April 29 last year, the NDUB has formally begun its academic activities with 24 well-trained teachers and experts and 283 members. Father Benjamin Costa has taken over as the first vice chancellor of the university, established in 2012 by the missionaries of the Holy Cross. In his address at the inaugural function, Fr Benjamin Costa thanked the government and donors who contributed for establishimg the NDUB. At present, the subjects are English, Economics, Law, Philosophy and Business Administration. Retired Bishop of Dhaka, mgr Paulinus Costa attended the inaugural function as the guest of honour. Renowned academics, educationists, researchers, University Grants Commission officials, litterateurs, business leaders, cultural activists and civil society members joined the programme, according to a news agency.
