Novelist Rasheed Karim passes away

Rasheed Karim, a renowned novelist, died of a heart attack at city's Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in the early morning of Saturday at the age of 86, reports BSS. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and a large number of relations, friends and well-wishers to mourn his death. The Namaj-e-Janaza of the deceased will be held at Bangla Academy at 4.00pm on the day. Later, he will be buried at Mirpur Intellectual Graveyard after Magreb prayers. Karim, born in Calcutta in 1925, did his BA degree from the Calcutta Islamia College. He received Bangla Academy Award, Ekushey Award, Adamjee Award among many others. Karim wrote many novels including 'Uttam Purash',' Prasanna Pashan', 'Amar Jata Glani,' and 'Prem Ekti Lal Golap.'
